October 13, 2012 - Padilla Miami Oscuro Limitado cigar, classic gin martini with 3 olives, and some classic vocals from Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, and presently The Ink Spots. It's late evening in my weekend office but better late than no cigar at all.
Many things going on with family, work, and my relationship with God but I'm not sure what to write about. The A's fantastic season finally ended after game 5 of the first round of playoffs - what a season... traded away 3 talented pitchers before Opening Day and NOBODY expected them to finish with a winning record. Instead they took 1st place on the last game of the season and stretched the Detroit Tigers to the final game of a 5 game playoff series. Incredible! I think more than anything else I loved them getting attention from the national media not only for playing way beyond expectations, but the fans at the colesium were recognized as the most vocal and energetic in the league. Even as the Tigers celebrated on the Colesium infield after the final out, Oakland fans could be heard chanting "Let's go Oakland" in celebration of their appreciation for a team they loved even in a losing cause. Many a young A's fan was born during this series - the team just wouldn't quit and neither would their fans.
